WHAT I CAN AS YOUR POSTNATAL DOULA IN DORSET
Everybody wants to hold the baby, but who’s holding you?
Entering motherhood intiates a change to who we are and will forever more be. Sometimes this is a smooth journey and sometimes there are challenges along the road, but either way, feeling supported through this transition is paramount to the wellbeing of you and your baby. Evidence shows that postnatal doula support:

Improves breastfeeding outcomes. Doula care is associated with a higher likelihood of establishing and continuing breastfeeding.

Reduces postpartum depression and anxiety. Women who received doula care had 57.5% lower odds of experiencing postpartum depression or anxiety. This effect was particularly strong (64.7% reduction) for women who had doula support during labour and birth, even if they didn’t have doula care during pregnancy.

Enhances maternal confidence. Doulas provide critical informational support, helping new parents understand their options and make informed decisions about their care. This empowerment can increase confidence and reduce anxiety during the postpartum period.

Supports more positive feelings about the postnatal experience. Research shows that doula support results in more positive feelings about the birth and postnatal experience.
As your POSTNATAL doula I will help you:

Build confidence as you transition into motherhood. Whether it’s your first or your fourth baby, each child brings a new dynamic to family life and a unique experience to how they wish to be cared for. My job is to be your cheerleader through any challenges you face and help you find techniques which make the journey as smooth as possible.

To feel nurtured and rested in the fourth trimester. Birthing a baby is kind of a big deal and it’s wise to take things slowly and nourish your mind, body and soul in this period. I can help you do that by taking baby while you rest and exploring options to enhance your physical recovery.

Experience a smooth breastfeeding journey. If you’re having some challenges when it comes to breastfeeding there’s nothing like having someone to provide practical advice. Through watching feeds, I can help you with latch and positioning and recommend little tweaks which might make all the world of difference.

Process your birth experience. Birth rarely turns out how we expected and I am here to listen to you thoughts and feelings around your experience with a kind, non-judgemental and neutral ear.

Feel nourished and soothed as you recover from birth. Taking your own unique tastes into account, I can prepare nourishing and hearty meals which aid your recovery from birth, support your breastfeeding journey and help overcome fatigue.

Feel supported between sessions. With dedicated WhatsApp support 12 hours a day, no question is too small, ask away and I will be there to support you.
